Fines & Fees

Parking tickets may be issued by the St. Joseph Police Department or the public parking enforcement staff. Tickets must be paid or protested within 48 hours of issuance. Penalties begin at five days and are assessed again at ten days. A parking fine schedule is available online for reading, and Chapter 28 of the Code of Ordinance (PDF) defines violations.

Protest

If you would like to protest the issuance of the parking citation, please complete the correct form below and fax the form to 816-271-4697, or remit to:

The city prosecutor reviews all requests for dismissal and returns a finding within seven to ten business days.

Wheel Immobilization Devices

If more than ten outstanding tickets are accumulated, a wheel immobilization devise may be placed upon a vehicle if parked upon the public right-of-way. If the devise is applied, an additional fee of $50 will be assessed in addition to the fines already due.
