[ARCHIVED] Citizen's Academy

Citizen's Academy Applications

The application process is now underway for the Joint Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy presented by the St. Joseph Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department. This eight-week academy on Tuesdays at 6-9pm, from March 24-May 19, is both informative and fun as well as providing a new understanding of the day-to-day operations of our departments. Applications may be picked up in the police department lobby and must be returned by March 13.

The instructors will be certified Law Enforcement Officers from both the city and county departments. This is not a candidate school and is designed to only give a general hands-on experience as to how the two Departments operate. This program is not a forum to debate previous enforcement contacts or personal grievances. Citizens are however, encouraged to participate in discussions as we learn from each other.

For more information call Sgt. Roy Hoskins at 236-1473 or Evidence Specialist Valerie Pasley at 236-8894.
